Please consider donating and becoming a member of CIHS. Here’s how you make a difference:

Our members’ commitment and contributions are the backbone of CIHS and of all its programs and all that it has accomplished over more than 40 years, and are equally vital to continue existing and new visions and programs for the future.

The Historical Society Museum and exhibits are free to all visitors. And our membership dues are intentionally kept modest to ensure that CIHS is accessible to all.

CIHS gets no regular annual operational funding from any level of government or from private foundations.

Through your donations we work to preserve the artifacts that describe the lives lived on Chebeague Island. Through these artifacts we teach younger generations about the past and through that help to shape the future.

Membership Plus Sustaining Donations

Regular sustaining support from members covers 70% of the Historical Society’s annual operating costs.

However, membership dues alone do not sustain the museum or its programs; it is the combination of regular annual dues and regular sustaining donations that support everything we do.

For the 2024 program year, over 85 generous members have made sustaining donations at every level, from $100 to more than $1000 each year.

That support is essential to everything we do — The goal is to reach 200 regular, sustaining members
