Please consider donating and becoming a sustaining member of CIHS. Here’s why:

Our members’ commitment and contributions are the backbone of CIHS and of all its programs and all that it has accomplished over more than 40 years, and are equally vital to advance new visions and programs for the future.

The Historical Society Museum, its exhibits and online resources are free to all visitors. And our basic membership dues are intentionally kept modest to ensure that CIHS is accessible to all.

CIHS gets no regular annual operational funding from any level of government or from private foundations.

Through your donations we work to preserve the artifacts that describe the lives lived on Chebeague Island. Through these artifacts, we teach younger generations about the past and help to shape the future.

Regular sustaining support from Historical Society members covers 70% of the Historical Society’s annual operating costs. However, basic membership dues alone do not sustain the museum or its programs; it is the combination of both Basic and Sustaining donations at all levels that supports everything we do.

For the 2026 program year, the contribution structure is now simplified, with Basic Membership and Sustainer Levels shown below.
